Snapshot Briefing ----------------- Snapshot is a utility that allows you to save a portion of the screen to an SGI image file. The default file is called snap.sgi . A simple walkthrough is laid out here: 1. Use the Tools menu snapshot option or from in a shell window type snapshot & and a small menu bar will appear labeled snapshot. 2. Move the mouse over the menu bar until the cursor changes to a camera and then hold down the shift key and move the camera cursor to the upper left corner of the region you would like to snap. 3. While still holding down the shift key drag the mouse while also pushing the left mouse button to the lower right corner of the snap region. 4. You may now release the shift key. If you want to edit the snap region, you will need to move the cursor over the menu bar again and hold down the shift key. Then move the mouse to edit the region while holding down the shift key. 5. Move the mouse to the menu bar and press the right mouse button. A menu will appear. To change the name of the file to save as, select new file name option. 6. When ready to snap the region, use the save as filename option or save and exit option. 7. If you used the default filename "snap.rgb", note the file is really a SGI file and may be renamed if necessary. This file will be in the directory you called snapshot with or in your home directory if you called snapshot from the Tools option.
